Energy Performance Certificate Newcastle

Energy Performance Certificate Newcastle (EPCs) were introduced in England and Wales on 1 August 2007 as part of Home Information Packs (HIPS) for domestic properties with four or more bedrooms. This has since been extended to include smaller properties. When the requirement for HIPs was removed in 2010, the requirement for EPCs continued. Both Purchase and Rental properties have a certificate valid for 10 years, which diagrammatically displays the energy performance of the property. Energy Performance Certificates are required by law, and are regulated by the Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) Department.

An Energy Performance Certificate  is required by law when a building is built, sold or put up for rent. If you are a landlord or homeowner and need to provide an Energy Performance Certificate, you'll need to contact Ravensworth Professional, an accredited domestic energy assessor based in the North East of England. We will carry out the assessment and produce the certificate for you in the Newcastle area.

An EPC for a rented property is valid for ten years – though it’s advisable to get a new certificate if you make significant improvements that will impact on the energy performance of the building.

An EPC for a property to be sold must have been produced no more than three months before the property is marketed for sale.

In either case, the EPC must be made available for prospective tenants or purchasers within 7 days of the property being marketed for sale or rent.
As a member of the accreditation scheme  you can ensure that we have the right skills to carry out the survey to agreed standards. The schemes ensure that we:

·         adhere to standards, codes of conduct and procedures
·         are qualified to conduct an energy assessment, produce the certificate and give advice
·         have the correct insurance
·         are part of a register
·         have had a criminal records check
·         have a complaints procedure

Ravenworth Energy Performance Assessors are available inside and outside of office hours – including evenings and weekends – because we know it’s sometimes difficult for clients to be at home during the day. We can usually agree a mutually convenient time to carry out the assessment within a day or two of your enquiry. If you are based in the Newcastle area we can produce your Energy Performance Certificate at short notice, leaving you to deal with everything else !

We welcome your comments!
